A barometric altimeter uses a sensor called a Barometer to measure the pressure of the Atmosphere.
As altitude increases, the pressure of the atmosphere decreases. Barometric altimeters use this principle to determine the altitude of an object. They measure the atmospheric pressure and compare it to the pressure at a known reference level, such as sea level. The difference in pressure is then used to calculate the altitude.
