Carburettor Icing

In a humid atmosphere, the Venturi Effect turns water vapour into droplets which frost the walls of the carburettor.
This causes a drop in power, vibrations and eventually engine stoppage.

Conditions conducive to icing :

• Ambient temperature around 20°C (resulting in a carburettor temperature between -15°C and 0°C)
• High humidity
• Reduced power
• Downhill
• Temperature close to the dew point
