Current Lines and Tubes

Current Lines

A current line is any curve whose tangent at each of its points is, at each instant and locally, collinear with the velocity vector of the flow field.

Equation

We consider a fixed time.

fracdxu(x,y,z,t)=dyv(x,y,z,t)=dzw(x,y,z,t)

Current tube

A current tube is the set of current lines that lie on a closed contour.
