Dream

What happens when dreaming?

We shift from logical thought processing to a process of idea associations, which explains why dreams seem so illogical and bizarre. What's more, the limbic system, which conveys fear and emotions, shows renewed activity, reflecting the intensity of the emotions expressed in many dreams.

Why do we dream?

For most neuroscientists, when viewed through the prism of evolution, the main purpose of dreaming is "to facilitate the consolidation and progression of skill learning" and to update our memories in ways that aid our survival by allowing the mind to replay certain dream scenarios and learn from the action and emotions of these.
