When filmmaker Peter Mortimer meets an elusive young climber named Marc-André Leclerc, an evolution of free solo mountaineering unfolds. During his two-year journey over high alpine peaks and steep icy waterfalls, Peter explores Marc's connection to nature, his uncompromising quest for adventure and the risks he takes to pursue his passion.
The Alpinist gives us a glimpse into the life of Marc-André Leclerc, who decided to make his time on earth a unique experience.
By making some of the riskiest ascents in the world of mountaineering, he gives us, through this documentary, a real lesson in life.
A beautiful definition of the words Courage and Folly, and of what a man is capable of achieving when he puts up no barriers.
The images are often magnificent and above all impressive. On the other hand, it's still a Netflix documentary, with a script that's sometimes a little predictable, and the testimonies in front of the camera a little stereotyped.
Nonetheless, it's a tribute to the personality and talent of Marc-André Leclerc. Thank you for this intense and poignant documentary.
This documentary can appeal to everyone, and I even think it's important to realize what some people are capable of doing for their passion. We need people like that in today's money-driven world.
So I recommend this documentary.
